Utilizing castor oil produced in arid regions of Africa as a source of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) presents a promising pathway for decarbonizing jet fuel. Unlike corn ethanol, castor oil does not compete with food production, and the current availability of waste vegetable oils is inadequate to meet more than the EU's 2% SAF requirement in jet fuel starting from January 1, 2025
